bibi - this is for real. Any US regulations on toys should be universally imposed. I am not sure if there is any exemptions for Vietnam though. For a general idea on restricted substances, you can google California Proposition 65. The trend is going to be tighter, not looser. Not sure about toys, but European ｕｎｉｏｎ has already imposed RoHS (Restriction on Harmful Substances) for electronic items. Google it.

您好。其實我係唔知點算，不過金先生當時的分析又似乎合理。既然是用閒錢去買賣，就索性一動不如一靜！相信它並不是垃圾股，會有返家鄉的一天，便不理會它的上上落落。

 

今天收市前俾百厭 Ki 嚇一嚇，巳經沽出五萬股作為買保險。由此可見，我並不叻，係細膽和蠢呢，哈哈！

My suggestion is NOT to advise your wife and let her make her own decision. Otherwise, if she cut loss according to your advice and then it rebounds, then you are in great trouble!!  Haha (I am not joking this time).

Will you advise your wife to cut 981 or just hold it until it rebounds to her purchase price?

sisi - 981, my wife also has this one and there is a big hole burnt through this one. She bought it after listening to a 大C on radio. *sigh*

In semiconductor industry, about every 7 years they have to burn a lot of money for new investments in plants. but their profit margin is good if yield loss is low.

Thanks for your advice. I am holding 5, 13, 293, 981, 998, 2006, 2333, 2727 and 3988. Among them, only 5 and 998 are my major investments. In fact, I have treated 981 as a total write-off and this one is my good example for “short fry becomes long holding”.  Haha.

sisi, cut-loss is fundamental ar! cut-loss is the best way to avoid incurring opportunity cost. biggee and good stocks *may* not need to be cut, but who am i to know??? if i get stuck at 50% loss (i have a couple of small holdings in this position), i need to make 100% to break even ar! horrible feeling! Especially one of them now has a daily trading volume of NIL!!! very very horrible feeling......it's like getting stuck to a smelly jacket and you cannot take it off.....

lucky that they account for only a small part, but i should have cut them at 10% loss.

 

sisi - recently i get to know a broker when i opened an a/c. He said something which is very true -- "san wu" tries too hard with too many stocks. One should focus on 1 to 2 only. I don't know about others, but i'm not big enough to "steer the boat". i think you know what i mean.

now i keep a long term position with 2628, 941, 5, and 3968. i also short-fry some and do options on them. That way, i only need to remember profit figures for 4 companies and keep track of news on 3 sectors only -- which is a lot for my old brain already.

I still have a collection of junk and miscellaneous stuff. Once I get the chance, I will unload them.

the rationale is, if the short fry part get caught, they can always contribute to averaging the long position. If prices go up too much, i offload some.

I try the cut loss concept but it is really hurt. Moreover, my experience tells me 一動不如一靜 especially I have no confidence to handle the timing accurately.

another  is to match the timing

Long time no see and I am joking for the 6K too. My investment is 閒錢 and this is why I can buy and hold them even though the book value is negative. In fact, the most stupid thing I have done in first quarter 2008 is to cut loss (止蝕) on #2883 which costs me -$55,000. It rebounds to my purchase price today and I should insist not to止蝕 as it is really not my style. For the 140,000 shares #998, it also rebounds to my average purchase price now. So, I am just 多做多錯！ Haha.

i also sold my short-fry lot of 2628 yesterday too, a day too early. But, the longer I am in this game, like you, the more i fret about getting caught. So, i kind of comfort myself consciously whenever i sold too early.

It's like a spell I practise on myself in order to feel more relaxed.

Besides, a new day is coming.....

Two points to prove that I am not “dai wu” :-

1) dai wu seldom minds $6,000 but it is nearly about one week of my previous salary,

2) I actually follow Mr. KAM’s advice to buy in #2727 and then I sold it before his signal as I am too scare to loss the profit.

I am jobless now and fortunately my BF allows me to “chee yam chee sic”. Perhaps, I need to search for the "long term rice ticket" asap. However, according to the traditional Chinese culture, it is not suitable for man to do it and so I am sorry that you can’t follow my way. Haha.
