Do You Know Where You Are Going To?

Do you know where you are gong to, Mr. Abe?

Do you know why governments of Beijing,  Taipei and Seoul and their people are not satisfied with your speech delivered on 14 August 2015?

The answer, my friend, I'm afraid, you should already know. It is simply because you are not sincere in admitting the wrongs and atrocities committed by your ancestors during the war that ended 70 years ago!

There is no clear explicit apology from you, Mr. Abe, as the representative of the Japanese Government.

Your reference that most Japanese today are not involved in the war and they should not be "predestined to apologise" for their nation's wartime acts is nothing but red herring.

If your government, Mr. Abe, have had heeded the sage  words  of Ms Merkel of Germany, and have had adopted similar policies like Germany over its wartime past, I trust the other Asian nations and people would no doubt treat your nation with respect.

Unfortunately, what we see is there is a sizeable number of Japanese people (many of whom are politicians) keen on paying tribute to the war criminals (chiefly those honoured in Yasukuni shrine),  strengthening Japan's military power and encroaching on territories validly belonging to neighbouring nations.

We all want peace. We also love justice.

Only when we truly respect history and ensure that the warmongers are appropriately condemned, we may enjoy true peace and achieve justice!
