G. Should you stand?
1. The presentor would appear more confident and authoritative when he/she is standing. Do try speak while you are standing.
2. Use books or other things to stack below the laptop so that the camera is at eye level while you are standing.
3. Do practise to ensure that you will not slip out of the screen unknowingly.
4. Normally, only the upper part (RATHER THAN THE WHOLE BODY) will be seen on screen and that is alright; otherwise you would have been standing too far away from the camera and the online audience may not be able to see / hear you clearly.
H. What device?
1. Normally, the online platform would offer more options/functions for a laptop than its Ipad/mobile version.
I. Voice
1. Speak slower may help the audience hear more clearly. Yet, got to practice to find your ideal speed.
2. Don’t forget that you can vary your tone, pitch, accent, volume (do not overdo, alright!)
J. Rehearsal aids
1. There is a camera extension app under Chrome that have recording function so that you can practisespeaking before the laptop.
2. Alternatively, rehearse and record before your mobile phone camera.
K.Contingency
1. Have a mobile phone beside you in case of any technical hiccup.
L. Practice and continue learning
1. Practise your gestures, eye contact, facial expressions and review.
2. Speaking online is different from offline. Customiseyour speech/presentation.
