美國西海岸的大峽谷為世界七大奇跡之一,位於西部亞利桑那州西北部的凱巴布高原上。峽谷由科羅拉多河的力量創造而成。科羅拉多河沿峽谷底從西流向東。

位於美國西海岸的大峽谷,雄偉壯觀,歷來是世人向往的旅遊勝地。站在大峽谷邊緣,真的會給你那種站的地球邊緣的感覺,令人不禁驚嘆大自然的鬼斧神工。

科羅拉多大峽谷的形狀極不規則,大致呈東西走向,總長349公裏,蜿蜒曲折,像一條桀驁不馴的巨蟒,匍伏於凱巴布高原之上。它的寬度在6公裏至25公裏之間,峽谷兩岸北高南低,平均谷深1600米,谷底寬度762米。科羅拉多河在谷底洶湧向前,形成兩山壁立,一水中流的壯觀,其雄偉的地貌,浩瀚的氣魄,懾人的神態,奇突的景色,世無其匹。1903年美國總統西奧多.羅斯福來此遊覽時,曾感嘆地說：“大峽谷使我充滿了敬畏,它無可比擬,無法形容,在這遼闊的世界上,絕無僅有。”
