問：Dear Mr Cheung, I am overjoyed to have read your article dated 16 November on Headline Daily because it has been headache for me to help my son to change school in uk. My son is now studying Lower Six in Chichester College, a further education college (which has not school clubs or orchestra) in uk. He found out that he is the best in his present school and he always gets full marks in his subjects, including Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology. He is far more diligent than his classmates and he can hardly find himself part of the college.It might be because he studied at a Band One Boys' School and was an orchestra member before he left and some of his ex-classmates are now studying at Tonbridge School (It is claimed that over 50% of its A-level graduates go to Oxford and Cambridge). So he is desperate to change to a grammar school with similar prospects of study and provisions of school clubs and facilities for his Upper Six next year. Would you be so kind as to give us some names of state (government) schools for our reference? I search online but best-schools.co.uk only offers public/independent/private schools which are too costly for us. Thank you very much for your kind attention. Looking forward to your kind reply.

答：公立學校只供有居英權的學生選擇，並不接受海外生報讀；私校學費高昂，不論海外本地學生亦要繳交同等學費。因此，若果經濟能力不許轉讀私校的話，你的兒子只能繼續留在持續進修學校就讀。雖然高中生活並不稱心，但努力考上心儀大學，便可以重拾多姿多采的校園生活。

問：章先生，你好！本人經常閲讀閣下的名校翱翔，增加不少海外讀書的知識。 小兒現讀中五，想明年九月去英國讀A level. 但因為寄宿私立學費太貴，有agent介紹在這幾年多香港人選讀的政府state college，國際學生可讀，沒有提供寄宿，要住host family. 本人對英國學校全不認識，怕這類學校師資不好，反令成績更差及容易學壞。請指教！謝謝！

答：如上則回信說過，英國公立學校並不會接受海外生報讀。學費相宜、而沒寄宿服務提供的，一般為持續進修學校，為成年人及海外學生提供不同程度的教育。由於這些學校並非正式中學，相比傳統學校學生關顧會比較遜色，學習配套不太完善。經濟能力許可的話，建議你應該先考慮私立中學。
