問：I am a parent of a 13 year old boy who is now studying in one of the top schools in Hong Kong.  His academic performance is ok and he is in the elite class.   His Chinese language is not good and he is afraid that he does not achieve good result to go to local university. 

In view of the HK education system and being a British Citizen, we are considering if my son should go to the government boarding this year at 14 years.  He is fortunate and is accepted by Royal Grammar, High Wycombe and Cranbrook in Kent, I am also considering to apply Lancaster Grammar.  May I have your opinion if the school are good and which school is better.  Is it too young to send him abroad?

答：上述學校之中以The Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe的成績最好，會考A-A*率達75%或以上。但該校的課業十分繁重，據說學生每天都要花個多小時間在功課上，有別於其他英國學校。嚴格的要求使學生的成績在不俗的表現，筆者在上述學之中會較為推薦此校，但你也應該先衡量一下兒子是否適合這種教學模式。而雖然Cranbrook和Lancaster Grammar的會考相若(會考A-A*率約60%)，筆者會較推薦Cranbrook。14歲是適合升學的年齡，不算太年幼，故此不用憂心。

問：你好, 本人女兒現就讀德望中学中四,成績只是一般,本人有意送他到英國升学,現ITCHEN SIXTH FORM COLLEGE 接受本人女兒 升讀中六,這一所中学成績如可?

答：此校為政府資助的持續進修學校，對象為16歲以上的學生及海外生。由於並非傳統英國高中，因此設施會比較簡單，關顧也較少，只為考入大學的一個跳板。該校A-level A*-A率比全國平均要低，筆者樂觀估計，只要求學態度認真，考試成績也能不過不失。但如果經濟能力許可，不妨考慮其他學校，畢竟求學並非只講求學業，難得到外國升學更應該體驗一下當地的學園生活。
