近年有不少朋友都明白夠資格運港的PP愈來愈貴，所以改用另一方法，買周歲或兩歲PPG，然後在外地用相熟的練馬師訓練並出賽，賽績符合最低來港資格便運港。來港後插三班，質素高的話就連勝連升，質素普通的就減分落四班，恃成熟去恰未熟的PPG。近期的成功例子是「步步友」及「風花雪月」，都是大摩用悉尼名師賀嘉時，在新南威爾斯省鄉鎮溫爾贏二萬二千澳元獎金的賽事，運港後前駒評七十二分，後駒評六十九分，接住便贏到開巷。
若是好馬的話，在這制度下當然好着數，但不是匹匹周歲馬也能成材。有朋友託某練馬師買了一匹八十萬澳元的名種周歲馬，結果跑了十六次也無法贏夠運港資格，更拼到流鼻血。另外有一些六七十萬紐元周歲價的紐西蘭馬，則是二千四甚至三千米的大長途馬，來港是無用武之地之餘，彼邦練馬師有時也未必選擇那些夠運港資格的賽事作賽，有時贏了都沒用。
不要以為買一匹馬是按個掣，舉一下手如此簡單。要全程投入，有時也要深思熟慮，不要意氣用事。
