其實大家要同意全球是鬧好騎師荒︰英國是莫雅一枝獨秀，老一輩的名將如戴圖理范義龍等，目前與全盛時的水準差多少，大家有目共睹。而愛爾蘭長期是岳本賢靠父蔭贏冠軍，在缺了靳能之後，施慕齡及萬寧已是庸中佼佼。
法國依然有不少猛將，但大都已上年紀，蘇銘倫也少了三四年前的鋒芒。柏兆雷、查爾尼等都只得一個穩字。
香港的策騎條件對不少無油王酋長聘約的騎師來說，是世界數一數二的。一星期只跑兩天，不用周圍駕車東奔西跑，晨課也只得一個沙田馬場。生活穩定之餘獎金也優厚。澳洲騎師通常都以來港為榮，南非亦然，而莫雷拉這位巴西名將則是異數。
不打算將我們馬場現役騎師水準與過往靳能、柏葛、嘉遜、繆沙、史提芬等相比，當年的大高手來港大多只是客串，現在來港的都是認真地當職業。
