奉勸初次做馬主不要考慮買雌馬，一來香港訓練環境不適合，二來買周歲雌馬，等到出賽至少一年甚至以上，香港也無有利的競賽條件(例如雌馬在讓磅賽有特別讓磅)。
但有經驗的資深馬主朋友，在外國養雌馬卻是件好投資，一來有大把只限雌馬參加的賽事，容易取得佳績以奠定日後配種地位，而雌馬若選擇在公開性別的賽事，全部獲雄馬讓磅，而最重要是雌馬不會像雄馬因脾氣或前胸過大而要閹割方能延續競賽生涯。退役後的雌馬，投入配種行列，一年生一胎，好運的可生十多胎，只要你肯俾配種費再配合自己生產紀錄良好，不愁無一級雄馬垂青。就算有部份雌馬是從未上陣，也可憑血統優良，躋身一流母馬行列。
不過香港人有無如此耐性？周歲買馬，跑到四歲甚至以後退役，當四歲第一次交配，五歲產子，雌馬七歲才第一次見到子嗣出售，等足七年先第一次有非賽事獎金的收入回報呢！
