業餘時代馬匹退役，通常是因為傷患纏身，又或競賽能力不堪造就，但現在馬匹退役，有時未必代表健康出了問題。
香港打比盟主「陽明飛飛」上周在紐西蘭贏二級賽，之前我們也見過香港短途怪傑「京城之寶」回紐後贏三級賽，而二班馬「永寶」更贏出一級賽雅旺第金盃，繼而進軍墨爾本盃。而最經典的例子，莫過於前蔡廄馬「潮汕菁英」在港未能上陣，回澳後用回原名「萬籟俱寂」出賽，結果贏出一級賽阿聯酋錦標。
香港的訓練和競賽環境與外國不同，訓練場只得沙田一個，場地也偏快，另外馬匹要長期住在馬格內，故縱使有一級佳駟，一個不適應環境及場地，就無法交回在彼邦贏大賽時的水準。但退役後回到外國，訓練手法不同，又有放草設施輔助，不少就重現生機。
香港不少馬主當然希望馬兒在自己眼前贏馬，但其實不少資深馬主早已在外國開枝散葉，在外地出賽後證明有能力的，再以PP運港，不適應就運走再換馬，這才符合經濟之道，不抱殘守缺。

To express anything at all one must work untill one can say what one means in its entirety otherwise one will express a peer groups distrust and desire to avoid the issue. The bottom line is to study practical, basic, fundemental, primary, ground level technicalities of domestic level to know for sure one is known for sure and this aspect goes far and beyond the experience of the
