亞視未能續牌，午間新聞也停播了，以往曾是城中話題的亞視盃，今年當然也無法贊助了。
大家應記得過往的亞視盃是如何哄動，全台上下群星拱照，而當年林百欣也是資深馬主，「金雞」在亞視盃日贏馬是一時佳話。而就算去到後來的劉長樂、封小平，以至較早期的王征及盛品儒時代，亞視盃的盛況，都會在翌日的娛樂版被大肆報道。而這些免費廣告，正是亞視的強心針。
當五月賽程表公布時，見到第一班千六米即傳統上會是亞視盃的場合，並無盃賽安排，而當日是港大校友會挑戰盃日，就知道今年亞視盃正式壽終正寢，成為歷史了。而由電視台在賽馬日贊助盃賽的傳統，也隨着亞視盃停辦而終結。
來季馬會如何播馬，有待他們公布，若是免費電視新頻道播馬，電視台會否贊助賽馬，也是未知之數。個人覺得電視台贊助賽馬日，其實成本不高，可以在自己台宣傳之餘，又有文字傳媒報道，兼可順便擺酒與友好共歡，何樂而不為？無線也好，now也好，值得考慮。
