Have u seen that goal of Torres ?

I hv watched the highlight of Liverpool/Man United Game and for that goal of Torres , pls note his body strength and the function of his left leg just like the movable pillar to fix his whole body on the ground before his right foot shot the ball.. how can he make such fixing in that one second while the speed of his body has been fast..Amazing!!!

Have watched the replay of Liverpool/Man United and it's typical Liverpool style who lead and defend and hold until last few minutes when everybody was going forward , then one / two passes which they killed u off in one counter attack.. I still remembered same happened to Arsenal in quarterfinal of CL at Anfield 2008..

West Ham 2 Colney Creche 2 : deja vu or what?

By Myles Palmer

West Ham 2 Arsenal 2
Van Persie 16,  Gallas 37,  Carlton Cole 74, Diamanti pen 80

Arsenal had a 2-0 lead but could not beat a team 15 places below them in the Premier League.
What's new since the 4-4 farce against Spurs a year ago?

You can measure the difference next Saturday at 12.45 on Sky, if you're not going to the game.
This match started and  it looked as if Van Persie was having one of his clumsy days. Arshavin, who has been playing at 60%, was sloppy because he was playing at 40%,  a Clichy cross was pure garbage, and then Rob Green gave Arsenal a gift goal.

Sagna crossed, Green slapped the ball straight to Van Persie, who poked it in for 1-0 .

Gallas headed in an RVP corner from four yards. He outsmarted the bigger Carlton Cole. No West Ham defender got off the ground.

Game over, I thought, and left the room.

After 73 minutes, I came downstairs randomly from my office and saw that a West Ham had a free-kick and Italian sub Diamanti took it and Mannone dived to save but let the ball hit the heel of his hand and bounce the wrong way. Not away from the goal and past the post but across the open goal, where Carlton Cole dived to head in for 1-2.

Then the clumsy Song clattered into Cole in the box, even though Cole was going nowhere, and a penalty was given. What a dimwit !  How stupid and careless can a footballer be? Answer : he can be Diaby. But that's another story.

Vito Mannone got a yellow card for winding up Diamanti, the penalty taker, but Diamanti had the last laugh when he whacked his left-footed penalty kick hard into the corner of the net.

Since Spurs lost 1-0 at home to Stoke on Saturday, and Manchester City could only draw 2-2 with Fulham at Eastlands on Sunday, Arsenal are third in the table. City were 2-0 up after 60 but conceded two goals in eight minutes. Arsenal conceded two in six minutes.

Keown says Arsenal coast in games and should demand more from each other.

Chelsea hammered Blackburn 5-0 and played the kind of football that Abramovich  wanted to see from Chelsea three years ago : powerful, fluid, incisive, dynamic. Anelka really, really wanted to score. He was fired up. Joe Cole played at the front of the diamond and was absolutely incredible, after trying too hard in the first ten minutes and missing a header from six yards. Lampard's goal was a superb hit from inside the box.

Shame that Man United have no structure in their team now, no style. Tevez-Cristiano-Rooney was a style. With Tevez and Cristiano gone, United are a rabble with no proper midfield, no proper attack. They missed Fletcher at Anfield. Just think about that ! Man United were so feeble that they missed Darren Fletcher!

The highlight of the Liverpool-United game came in 64 minutes when Fernando Torres scored the biggest goal of the season so far.

Benayoun, the dribbling playmaker, really stepped up to the plate, supplying the assist for a deeply meaningful goal.

Kuyt to Benayoun to Kuyt to Benayoun, slipped pass down the side of Rio Ferdinand and... bang !!!!

Intelligence to hold his run and stay onside.
Strength to hold off Ferdinand's challenge.
Honesty not to dive when being having his shoulder pulled back.
Balance to maintain control of the ball and keep it within his stride pattern.
Confidence to blast home at the near post.
Technique to hit his shot so hard that the best keeper in the Premier League had no chance of saving it.

Torres is different different different class.

I hope he wins the World Cup for Spain.

Things got a bit hysterical and physical after that. Vidic was sent off for a bodycheck on Kuyt, Mascherano saw red as well. And when Liverpool broke away in the 96th minute, sub David Ngog strolled onto a Lucas pass and slotted low past Edwin van der Sar.

Rafa said, "The team is better than people think."

Liverpool miss Xabi Alonso as much as Arsenal missed Patrick Vieira.

But that Torres strike was a phenomenal goal by a proper centre forward, a real killer, a blond assassin. That goal was sensational! I've seen it 18 times already and I love it more every time I see it. It was passionate, professional, deadly and thrilling. I could watch that goal for 90 minutes.

And it's great to have Joe Cole fit and sharp enough to regain his place in the England team. He played out of his skin in that 5-0 victory.

So it was an enjoyable weekend because Fernando Torres and Joe Cole are two of my favourite players.

I'm not going to stress about Arsenal's inability to defend a lead. It's a bore, just pathetic. I'm sick of talking about it and sick of writing about it.

West Ham 2 Colney Creche 2. I've nothing new to say about it.Disgust has cooled into indifference, so I don't care any more.

Lauren Mayer . I like his style , very practical and not the type of bla bla bla... During his peak he played with Lungberg on the right side , and i have seen one funny comment from Myles who said Lauren threw the ball to Lungberg ..then back to Lauren and back to Lungberg and back to Lauren....zzzzzz... haha.

I think Wenger will field a younger squad, haha.  Don’t you like Merida in midfield?  Maybe we should use this game as an intro game to bring Alumnia back to the pitch? Guess it’s time he resumes as first XI.

No need to say sorry.. we are only human.

I screamed (yes i really screamed) at 5:30 am at that night (early morning) when Arsenal levelled 2-2 while time remaining was only arnd 5 mins plus injury time, we were a step away to semifinal ..and then I completely shouted up and stunned 60 seconds later.

I couldn't sleep after the whistle blew as I just laid down on the bed and my brain just kept running...What a torture !!!

Then when u saw last year how Spur levelled from two goals down in last 5 mins for 4-4 draw ...U more or less should become emotionless..O'wise we are all going to see mental doctor.

anyway. I still look foward to watching wednesday match as Nasri should start along with Eduardo , Bendtner , Wilshere , Ramsey , Fabianski , Gibbs , Gibert , Sanderos , Silvestre , Vela. It's a 4-3-3 formation.

Lets see whether I make a right forecast of above squad , then maybe i can become Wenger's assistant ...haha!!!

You mentioned that CL quarterfinal game?!!!

It broke my heart!

It should be a night when Walcott starred the stage.  His counter attack was brilliant and I had hardly finished applausing before the referee blew his whistle for that penalty.  It was crap crap crap.  Babel dived!  However, Kolo Toure should understand that the CL Refs have different standards as the BPL Refs.  Just watch those Spanish games and he should understand.  It is a golden rule not to touch the strikers in the box coz they will fall.  They certainly will, even the superstars.  I have watched Ballack and van Bommel fall dramatically due to the slightest touch or push.  They all practice hard on this technique, so our defenders should remember this.

Sorry chanreborn, for whinging too much.

Wilshere and Szczesny give Arsenal far more authority and guts

By Myles Palmer

Arsenal 2 Barcelona 1

Villa 26, Van Persie 78, Arshavin 83

____________________________

The key player in the Nou Camp will be Szczesny.

So pray that nothing happens to Arsenal’s goalkeeper between now and Tuesday, March 8th.

Barcelona’s style is cleverly-timed runs onto sharp little passes, which c reates a lot of one-on-one chances with the keeper.

Wojciech Szczesny’s fine positional judgement makes him a master of making opponents shoot into the side-netting or just past the post.

On the goal, he was a bit unlucky because David Villa, a razor finisher in these situations, slotted between his legs.

By contrast, he got lucky on the loose ball after his save, when the scrambling Messi headed in but was flagged offside. Messi wasn't offside.

For me, Szczesny was Arsenal’s best player last night for that reason. Making Messi miss was the name of the game.

Yes, Koscielny played his finest game in an Arsenal shirt.

Yes, Jack Wilshere played with remarkable authority at the heart of the team. England need to play Jack football, Fabio - not Capello football.

Yes, of course, CL knock-out ties are a game of four halves.

Arsenal lost the first half 1-0 and won the second half 2-0 and halves three and four will roll round 20 days from now.

Arsenal raised their tempo after half-time and the game turned on 68 when Keita and Arshavin came on.

Keita replaced Villa to stiffen Barca's midfield, which was running out of steam, and allowed young Busquets to go ball-hunting further up the field.

Arshavin’s arrival (for Song) allowed him to link in a cool manner with Clichy, who played a killer ball forward into the box with his right-foot and gave Van Persie a chance to hit a mighty left-foot shot on the half- volley inside the near post of Victor Valdes for 1-1.

Valdes has always had flaky moments. That blunder by allowed Arsenal back into a game that Barcelona were still playing mostly in Arsenal's half.

Still, defending deeper can be good. You can only counter-attack if your opponents are in your half of the field. You can attack too much in a game. If you attack less, you often score more.

Frankly, Fabregas, Eboue and Walcott had been crap.

All three played crap. Only a blinkered, badge-kissing nincompoop would say any of those three played well last night.

Arsenal had nothing on the right flank but now, suddenly, that was where the winning goal came from after a fabulous move.

The cool Koscielny picked up the ball in his penalty area, passed to Bendtner, who passed infield to Wilshere, then quickly forward to Fabregas, who instantly released Nasri with a superb ball down the right flank.

Nasri could have tried the obvious with a low cross to the far post but chose instead to play a lovely pass which allowed Arshavin to curl his sidefoot shot behind Abidal and into the net from 15 yards.

That quality goal gave Arsenal their first victory against Barcelona and it set the seal on the pulsating, rocking, thrilling night that the Emirates has needed since 2006.

Sporting Gijon was a factor last night because game was much harder than the Wolves game was for Arsenal .

After two and half years of staggering success, and intensifying pressure, Barcelona are showing signs of burn-out, so Pep has to husband his resources very carefully.

Coming back off an international break, which is mostly where Barcelona d rop their points, he conceded an early goal at Gijon in a game that was very passionate, intense and physical, since Gijon are fighting for their lives just above the drop-zone.

I was really enjoying the game but as the second half went on I was thinking : This is taking a lot out of Barcelona !

Indeed, it was a helluva battle that was taking a lot out of both sides.

Just as the commentators began to say that David Villa was about to be taken off, he glided onto a wonder-pass from Messi and chipped the keeper from the edge of the box and it finished 1-1.

Success brings a heavy schedule.

The more games you win, the more the pressure is on you. To handle that you need character and guts. Wilshere and Szczesny have given the team a lot more personality and authority than it had last year.

Big characters, big difference.

As Rufus Thomas said, age ain’t nothin’ but a number.
