Wenger now set him up by his own youth policy and if his 1st team squad cannot beat Stoke city at home this weekend , then you can say they will be in crisis ...what crisis ? confidence crisis as player's confidence are affected by the results and in case 3 consecutive non-scoring records happens from sunderland, chelsea upto Stoke city then who knows what will happen for the team and the manager.. He has been in bad mood last night and we all realised that he is now under a huge pressure to deliver something this season !!

I wish I am wrong this weekend .

you like to watch how awful of Silvestre .. watch this !!!

Arsene Wenger is the architect of his own humiliation

By Myles Palmer

Manchester City 3 Arsenal 0
Tevez 50, Wright-Phillips 69, Weiss 89

If Chelsea was men against boys, this was men against children.

On the first goal, Rosicky lost theball sloppily in a dangerous area, Eboue didn't get near Tevez, Song didn't get near him, and when Silvestre came across, he didn't get near him either.

Second goal, SWP ran Silvestre, who backed off and Sean fired a scorching shot in off the underside of the bar.

Third goal, Bellamy zoomed past Jack Wilshere and Song on the left and crossed  low for sub Weiss to shot first time and the ball went in off the underside again.

Bellamy's low cross had beaten Craig Eastmond's attempts to cover and Traore was not covering Weiss. By the time Traore arrived the ball was in the back of the net.

Eastmond is 18 and can't take on Barry, Ireland and SWP yet, not in a lightweight Carling Cup side anyway. Although Barry was poor in this game.

The lad was in central midfield because Song had been moved to centreback. Let's face it, Song is not so gifted that he can play midfield on Sunday and centreback on Wednesday.

Football is a game of angles, triangles and partnerships, and winning Arsenal teams have always had superb partnerships. This side had no effective partnerships and got swamped, overwhelmed and dismantled. Their powderpuff attack played five or ten yard passes that fizzled out around the penalty area, if they got that far.

As Arsenal tried to stay in the game, they were forced to foul again and again, picking up six yellow cards.

A Vela half- chance from Wilshere's pass, a couple of speculative shots -  that was it. Adebayor missed two chances and A 3-0 score was a fair result. It might have been five or six if Bellamy had not fired wide from SWP's low cross in 18 minutes.

It's Wenger's policy to use kids in the Carling Cup and he is known globally for giving opportunities to young players. But when he won the title in 1998 he used one young player for half a season : Anelka. In 2002 and 2004, he won the league with experienced players. In 2004 Ashley Cole was the baby of that Invincibles side and he was 23.

City skipper Kolo Toure's 326 Arsenal's games are far more than the total appearances of the whole Arsenal team he faced last night. No wonder Citeh walked it.

Clearly, Wenger is reaping what he has sown. He has too many policies and sticks to them too rigidly. Managers need to be flexible and pragmatic. He rants and raves about the Dutch FA and referees, and it is unlucky to lose two strikers AND two left backs at the same time. But he can't blame anybody else. Arsenal are where they are because of him and nobody else. He is the architect of his own humiliation.

What he said about Drogba not doing much on Sunday was churlish, and he's now been slaughtered for refusing to shake hands with Mark Hughes after this thrashing. That's a bad example to set to his players, for a start. During the Sky commentary, Martin Tyler said, "He's a very, very bad loser, as I'm sure all of you know from some of his reactions to defeat."

Incredibly, some readers ask why I'm anti-Arsenal.

I'm not anti-Arsenal, never have been, never will be.  I just don't think they'll win another trophy with this manager.

Back in March-April, I had a gut feeling that this would be Wenger's last season. I can't explain that, it was just a deep feeling that had been there for a while before I realised it.

I now hear that his four-year contract has an option to walk after three.

Wilshere and Szczesny give Arsenal far more authority and guts

By Myles Palmer

Arsenal 2 Barcelona 1

Villa 26, Van Persie 78, Arshavin 83

____________________________

The key player in the Nou Camp will be Szczesny.

So pray that nothing happens to Arsenal’s goalkeeper between now and Tuesday, March 8th.

Barcelona’s style is cleverly-timed runs onto sharp little passes, which c reates a lot of one-on-one chances with the keeper.

Wojciech Szczesny’s fine positional judgement makes him a master of making opponents shoot into the side-netting or just past the post.

On the goal, he was a bit unlucky because David Villa, a razor finisher in these situations, slotted between his legs.

By contrast, he got lucky on the loose ball after his save, when the scrambling Messi headed in but was flagged offside. Messi wasn't offside.

For me, Szczesny was Arsenal’s best player last night for that reason. Making Messi miss was the name of the game.

Yes, Koscielny played his finest game in an Arsenal shirt.

Yes, Jack Wilshere played with remarkable authority at the heart of the team. England need to play Jack football, Fabio - not Capello football.

Yes, of course, CL knock-out ties are a game of four halves.

Arsenal lost the first half 1-0 and won the second half 2-0 and halves three and four will roll round 20 days from now.

Arsenal raised their tempo after half-time and the game turned on 68 when Keita and Arshavin came on.

Keita replaced Villa to stiffen Barca's midfield, which was running out of steam, and allowed young Busquets to go ball-hunting further up the field.

Arshavin’s arrival (for Song) allowed him to link in a cool manner with Clichy, who played a killer ball forward into the box with his right-foot and gave Van Persie a chance to hit a mighty left-foot shot on the half- volley inside the near post of Victor Valdes for 1-1.

Valdes has always had flaky moments. That blunder by allowed Arsenal back into a game that Barcelona were still playing mostly in Arsenal's half.

Still, defending deeper can be good. You can only counter-attack if your opponents are in your half of the field. You can attack too much in a game. If you attack less, you often score more.

Frankly, Fabregas, Eboue and Walcott had been crap.

All three played crap. Only a blinkered, badge-kissing nincompoop would say any of those three played well last night.

Arsenal had nothing on the right flank but now, suddenly, that was where the winning goal came from after a fabulous move.

The cool Koscielny picked up the ball in his penalty area, passed to Bendtner, who passed infield to Wilshere, then quickly forward to Fabregas, who instantly released Nasri with a superb ball down the right flank.

Nasri could have tried the obvious with a low cross to the far post but chose instead to play a lovely pass which allowed Arshavin to curl his sidefoot shot behind Abidal and into the net from 15 yards.

That quality goal gave Arsenal their first victory against Barcelona and it set the seal on the pulsating, rocking, thrilling night that the Emirates has needed since 2006.

Sporting Gijon was a factor last night because game was much harder than the Wolves game was for Arsenal .

After two and half years of staggering success, and intensifying pressure, Barcelona are showing signs of burn-out, so Pep has to husband his resources very carefully.

Coming back off an international break, which is mostly where Barcelona d rop their points, he conceded an early goal at Gijon in a game that was very passionate, intense and physical, since Gijon are fighting for their lives just above the drop-zone.

I was really enjoying the game but as the second half went on I was thinking : This is taking a lot out of Barcelona !

Indeed, it was a helluva battle that was taking a lot out of both sides.

Just as the commentators began to say that David Villa was about to be taken off, he glided onto a wonder-pass from Messi and chipped the keeper from the edge of the box and it finished 1-1.

Success brings a heavy schedule.

The more games you win, the more the pressure is on you. To handle that you need character and guts. Wilshere and Szczesny have given the team a lot more personality and authority than it had last year.

Big characters, big difference.

As Rufus Thomas said, age ain’t nothin’ but a number.
