OLYMPIAKOS 1 ARSENAL 0
Olympiakos 1 Arsenal 0
Yes I have watched the full game last night instead of Barcelona although Barcelona was 1 nil down after 2 minutes..
I can conclude flwg after 93 mins:
Fabianski could be the next No.1 goalkeeper although he conceded the goal which he should have done better..but he made two saves on one against one basis and he can handle the high ball very well.
Ramsey and Song both played a good game last night , Ramsey played an advance position in midfield and have given two good passes to Vela but both opportunities were completely wasted by Vela.
Wilshere cannot make any impact and was substituted in 75 mins. He should play more games and get used to those physcial confrontation and hopefully he will be on loan next january.
Bartley , the captain of Reserve , played ok except he was responsible for the goal conceded . As this game is his debut and his physical size is one advantage so he should keep playing and try to breakthrough the 1st team considering there will be vacancy of central back in near future , after Sanderos leaves the team.
Walcott's 1st touch is awful as usual , and his final pass just cannot make it... I don't know how many more games he needs to pick up his form but for time being he is very uneffective .. Vela was given two golden opportunities , 1st one was wasted by his right foot and 2nd one was shooted over the bar by his left foot..Sorry if Vela cannot socre against Greek team I just wonder when he will score against premier team .. Overall this young team showed the same style of 1st team but the same problem here is no striking force who can score a goal after 60 pct possession. Next game is at Anfield on sunday against Liverpool.
Tinkering Rafa is Arsenal's best bet at Anfield
Sunday is a must-win game for Liverpool.
Arsenal lost narrowly in Athens last night, while Liverpool, already relegated to the Europa Cup, were beaten by Fiorentina's late goal after leading through a Benayoun goal in 43 minutes.
So, while Arsenal's kids lost by 1-0, Liverpool were beaten 2-1.
Yet again a Rafa Benitez substitution make no sense.
It was 1-1 with 5 minutes to go, and Fiorentina had just brought on Vargas for Jorgensen, who had equalised, so Rafa brought on Aurelio for Mascherano, and when Vargas broke on the left and crossed low, the unmarked Gilardino knocked in the winner in the 90th minute.
Mascherano could not tackle Gilardino. He was sitting on the bench
Liverpool's full back play is absolutely dire. And Rafa has bought 17 full backs in his five years at Anfield.
Aquilani played 75 tidy minutes in his first start since arriving from Roma for £20 million in August.
If Aquilani plays the next 25 games he will score 5 goals and make 5, at least.
Aaron Ramsey looked good in a toothless young Arsenal side who dominated possession.
When centreback Kyle Bartley missed a tackle in centrefield, midfielder Leonardo burst inside Kerrea Gilbert into acres of space, Song couldn't catch him, and the Brazilian slotted through the legs of the advancing Fabianski in 47.
When Ramsey broke beautifully on the left, looking as elegant as Platini once did, his tasty pass was wasted by Vela, who also poked another good chance over the bar.
I've never thought the flicky Mexican would make it. Walcott played 90 minutes for the first time this season but I don't think he will go to South Africa.
There will come a point where Wenger has to own up on Vela and Walcott.
Sunday will be interesting and Stevie G admits Liverpool must finish in the top four, although they will try to win the Europa Cup for the fans.
The draw for the last 16 is on Friday at 11 a.m.
Surprisingly, of all last night's Champions League clubs, Fiorentina have the most points from six group games. Inter and Stuttgart have the least :
Fiorentina 15 points
Arsenal 13
Lyon 13
Sevilla 13
Barcelona 11
Olympiakos 10
Inter 9
Stuttgart 9
