Burnley 1 Arsenal 1

There is no complaint after Arsenal could come home without any point in their bag.. No striker on the frontline , Gallas almost scored the late winner in the stoppage time which showed the picture clearly.. I don't want to critisize too much this team w/out striker and captain in the 2nd half as we all know Turf Moor is a difficult place to play and win ..!!

http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/tv-online-burnley-v-arsenal-highlights

Now Hull city at home on saturday , now Cesc Fabregas is injured due to hamstring so no captain in next match , while we have to handle and keep Phil Brown quiet .. another tough match is coming!!!

Can we rely on Arshavin , Nasri , and who else ??? There is no back up defenders as well .. when will Rosicky recover for god sake ?? Playing Almunia , Walcott and Silvestre is a really suicidal act and God bless you guys and God bless Wenger..Amen.

Arsenal are in a dogfight for 4th, unless Wenger buys boldly in January

By Myles Palmer

Burnley v Arsenal was an entertaining game that ended 1-1.

No real surprise there.

Almunia made errors, the attack was powderpuff and Walcott was taken off in the second half. Eduardo replaced him  in 64 but didn't do much.

So Arsenal are third, above Aston Villa on goal difference.

Wenger has a team of inside forwards but no strikers. He kept telling us : I've got Van Persie, Bendtner, Eduardo, Vela, and Walcott can play down the middle as well. I knew that was tosh and Turf Moor proved it.

Eduardo, Walcott and Vela are a waste of space but they all get new contracts.

Wenger's policy is (1) manana ( keep selling tomorrow to gullible Gooners) and (2) keep rewarding failure (because players who fail today will succeed next year).

Arsenal played well for 15 minutes at Anfield after Glenn Johnson toe-poked that goal in for them.

Then they were sloppy and unconvincing at Burnley, who hit the frame of the goal twice. Almunia had to tip a Vermaelen header that was going in and the ball hit the bar and went for a corner. Eagles hit the post with a  ierce shot that almost won the game. Arshavin can't score in every game but earlier he ran onto a nice pass from Nasri and beat Brian Jensen with a shot that hit the post.

Burnley started well but Fabregas threatened the penalty area, passed to Bikey, who then dithered, allowing Fabregas to tackle him and score sweetly after 7 minutes.

When Bikey and Vermaelen went for a 50-50 ball in the Arsenal box, Bikey got there first, Vermaelen kicked his foot, and Graham Alexander blasted home the penalty for 1-1.

Nothing much has changed. Arsenal are in a dogfight for fourth place and will be for the next five months unless Wenger buys a goalkeeper and a proper striker in January.

JAMES MILNER was superb in Aston Villa's win at Sunderland, making the first goal for Heskey and scoring the second with a 30-yard thunderbolt. Who needs Gareth Barry?

SPURS stuffed pretenders Manchester City 3-0 at the Lane last night and beanpole Peter Crouch had two assists.

Near the end of the Spurs game, when the score was 2-0, Adebarndoor let Kranjcar walk past him in the box to make it 3-0. Roque Santa Cruz looks a better player than Ade and it was his challenge that obliged Michael Dawson to handle craftily, a foul the referee missed. Aaron Lennon murdered Arsenal old boy Sylvinho.

Adebarndoor is Mark Hughes's problem now.Good luck, Sparky.

Mercenaries vary a lot, as we all know. The best are far superior to the worst. Klinsmann and Bergkamp were magical. Cantona and Pires were masters of their arts. Arshavin and Tevez are warriors. But Adebarndoor and Robinho are slags.

Man City have only won one of their last 10 league games. Eight draws already? Another eight draws will put them in the Europa League next season, against teams who have been playing Fulham and Everton this season.

Manchester City need to improve the character of their acquisitions, or Garry Cook and Mark Hughes will be looking for new jobs.

FERNANDO TORRES is like Klinsmann and Bergkamp.

Different class. 100 appearances for Liverpool, 61 goals. A huge talent with a marvellous temperament, he looked a bit rusty when he came on against Wigan last night. Liverpool were leading by a Ngog goal, and he made it 2-0 late on. How long did it take Torres to score in his first game for Liverpool? About 12 minutes.

Wilshere and Szczesny give Arsenal far more authority and guts

By Myles Palmer

Arsenal 2 Barcelona 1

Villa 26, Van Persie 78, Arshavin 83

____________________________

The key player in the Nou Camp will be Szczesny.

So pray that nothing happens to Arsenal’s goalkeeper between now and Tuesday, March 8th.

Barcelona’s style is cleverly-timed runs onto sharp little passes, which c reates a lot of one-on-one chances with the keeper.

Wojciech Szczesny’s fine positional judgement makes him a master of making opponents shoot into the side-netting or just past the post.

On the goal, he was a bit unlucky because David Villa, a razor finisher in these situations, slotted between his legs.

By contrast, he got lucky on the loose ball after his save, when the scrambling Messi headed in but was flagged offside. Messi wasn't offside.

For me, Szczesny was Arsenal’s best player last night for that reason. Making Messi miss was the name of the game.

Yes, Koscielny played his finest game in an Arsenal shirt.

Yes, Jack Wilshere played with remarkable authority at the heart of the team. England need to play Jack football, Fabio - not Capello football.

Yes, of course, CL knock-out ties are a game of four halves.

Arsenal lost the first half 1-0 and won the second half 2-0 and halves three and four will roll round 20 days from now.

Arsenal raised their tempo after half-time and the game turned on 68 when Keita and Arshavin came on.

Keita replaced Villa to stiffen Barca's midfield, which was running out of steam, and allowed young Busquets to go ball-hunting further up the field.

Arshavin’s arrival (for Song) allowed him to link in a cool manner with Clichy, who played a killer ball forward into the box with his right-foot and gave Van Persie a chance to hit a mighty left-foot shot on the half- volley inside the near post of Victor Valdes for 1-1.

Valdes has always had flaky moments. That blunder by allowed Arsenal back into a game that Barcelona were still playing mostly in Arsenal's half.

Still, defending deeper can be good. You can only counter-attack if your opponents are in your half of the field. You can attack too much in a game. If you attack less, you often score more.

Frankly, Fabregas, Eboue and Walcott had been crap.

All three played crap. Only a blinkered, badge-kissing nincompoop would say any of those three played well last night.

Arsenal had nothing on the right flank but now, suddenly, that was where the winning goal came from after a fabulous move.

The cool Koscielny picked up the ball in his penalty area, passed to Bendtner, who passed infield to Wilshere, then quickly forward to Fabregas, who instantly released Nasri with a superb ball down the right flank.

Nasri could have tried the obvious with a low cross to the far post but chose instead to play a lovely pass which allowed Arshavin to curl his sidefoot shot behind Abidal and into the net from 15 yards.

That quality goal gave Arsenal their first victory against Barcelona and it set the seal on the pulsating, rocking, thrilling night that the Emirates has needed since 2006.

Sporting Gijon was a factor last night because game was much harder than the Wolves game was for Arsenal .

After two and half years of staggering success, and intensifying pressure, Barcelona are showing signs of burn-out, so Pep has to husband his resources very carefully.

Coming back off an international break, which is mostly where Barcelona d rop their points, he conceded an early goal at Gijon in a game that was very passionate, intense and physical, since Gijon are fighting for their lives just above the drop-zone.

I was really enjoying the game but as the second half went on I was thinking : This is taking a lot out of Barcelona !

Indeed, it was a helluva battle that was taking a lot out of both sides.

Just as the commentators began to say that David Villa was about to be taken off, he glided onto a wonder-pass from Messi and chipped the keeper from the edge of the box and it finished 1-1.

Success brings a heavy schedule.

The more games you win, the more the pressure is on you. To handle that you need character and guts. Wilshere and Szczesny have given the team a lot more personality and authority than it had last year.

Big characters, big difference.

As Rufus Thomas said, age ain’t nothin’ but a number.
