No chance to view the whole match while away in china during weekend.. watching the live text during the match time and already gave up the title chase which has been over but the last gasp header by Brendtner saved the whole team !! At least for time being.

Needless to say Walcott who had a disappointing game after watching the below commentry by Phil Thompson ex Liverpool player in 70' and 80's. At that time Liverpool's dominance was just like Man United right now .

Karl Henry's red card was harsh which changed the match but that's neither 1st time nor last time for all this kinds of wrong decision considering the level of referee in EPL when u reviewed the offside goal of Drogba against Man United .

Arsenal was lucky to get through it in 94 min. next match away at Nou Camp tomorrow night.

Lucky Arsenal get out of jail. Again

By Myles Palmer

How much longer will Arsenal's luck hold ?

After making seven changes, and failing to score after 45, and failing to score after 90, powderpuff Arsenal grabbed a very late goal against Wolves.

A 95th minute header by Nicklas Bendtner gave them three points.

Yet again Arsenal beat 10 men after Wolves skipper Karl Henry went for a 50-50 in the centre circle with Rosicky.

He got a a toe to the ball, caught the Czech, deserved a yellow card. But ref Andre Marriner sent him off.

Wolves defended honestly and very well, with keeper Hahnnemann looking capable of stopping everything.

Eduardo doesn't make it, and Vela, who replaced him, doesn't make it either.

But Wenger is lucky.

If his luck continues he could finish second and get a new five-year contract. Then he will sign more kids and carry on telling us that Almunia is a solid keeper.

Good to see Sol back.

He organises well to cover his lack of pace, leads by example, and times every tackle.

Sol must play at the Nou Camp. He will have a week off before the Spurs game at White Hart Lane.

Spurs play Portsmouth in the FA Cup semi-final while Arsenal fine-tune their preparations for the Lane.

That game will be controversial.

That Bendtner goal keeps them three points behind Chelsea, who won 2-1 at Man United.

Sir Alex started his old men Giggs, Scholes and Neville, making defeat almost inevitable.
Amazing that he didn't start Nani. A mind-boggling decision !

After watching Chelsea smash Aston Villa 7-1 last week, I  thought Malouda would get into the box and waltz round Rio Ferdinand and score. But I didn't bet on the game.

Malouda got into the box, beat Fletcher, and made a goal for Joe Cole to flick in after 19 minutes.

Joe started in an unchanged side. Drogba was on the bench.

At half-time I backed Chelsea to score the next goal. It looked obvious because United were so feeble. Drogba was a yard offside when he scored the next goal with a near-post thunderbolt. There was no flag. The linesman was level with him. A shocking decision but I didn't mind too much.

In truth, United were dire. Chelsea were far more fluent.

My gambling greengrocer John had four bets on one game on Friday night : Blackpool to lead at half time, both sides to score, etc etc. He won all four bets. On Saturday he advised me to back over 2.5 goals at Old Trafford and both sides to score. I didn't do that but I got surprisingly good odds on Chelsea at half-time. Always bet on a team that has won their last match, especially if they're playing a team that's lost their last match.

Football is unpredictable. As soon as I said Sir Alex has had a better season than Manchester United, he got it all wrong in Munich and lost 2-1 to Bayern, and then he bungled it again and lost 2-1 at home to Chelsea.

Barcelona beat Athletic Bilbao 4-1 tonight.

Youngster Bojan scored two goals and may face Arsenal because Ibrahimovic was injured in the warm-up. Ibra will have tests on a calf strain on Sunday. He won't play on Tuesday.

Abidal returned at left back and did well but he may partner Milito at centreback on Tuesday night. Marquez is too slow to play against Arsenal, so Pep might go with Yaya-Milito. Yaya Toure is 6-4" and has power and Pep doesn't need his power in midfield. He needs it in the box at both ends. Toure did a great job against Drogba last season - Bendtner is no Drogba.

It's an important call in a game most experts think Barcelona will win.

Wilshere and Szczesny give Arsenal far more authority and guts

By Myles Palmer

Arsenal 2 Barcelona 1

Villa 26, Van Persie 78, Arshavin 83

____________________________

The key player in the Nou Camp will be Szczesny.

So pray that nothing happens to Arsenal’s goalkeeper between now and Tuesday, March 8th.

Barcelona’s style is cleverly-timed runs onto sharp little passes, which c reates a lot of one-on-one chances with the keeper.

Wojciech Szczesny’s fine positional judgement makes him a master of making opponents shoot into the side-netting or just past the post.

On the goal, he was a bit unlucky because David Villa, a razor finisher in these situations, slotted between his legs.

By contrast, he got lucky on the loose ball after his save, when the scrambling Messi headed in but was flagged offside. Messi wasn't offside.

For me, Szczesny was Arsenal’s best player last night for that reason. Making Messi miss was the name of the game.

Yes, Koscielny played his finest game in an Arsenal shirt.

Yes, Jack Wilshere played with remarkable authority at the heart of the team. England need to play Jack football, Fabio - not Capello football.

Yes, of course, CL knock-out ties are a game of four halves.

Arsenal lost the first half 1-0 and won the second half 2-0 and halves three and four will roll round 20 days from now.

Arsenal raised their tempo after half-time and the game turned on 68 when Keita and Arshavin came on.

Keita replaced Villa to stiffen Barca's midfield, which was running out of steam, and allowed young Busquets to go ball-hunting further up the field.

Arshavin’s arrival (for Song) allowed him to link in a cool manner with Clichy, who played a killer ball forward into the box with his right-foot and gave Van Persie a chance to hit a mighty left-foot shot on the half- volley inside the near post of Victor Valdes for 1-1.

Valdes has always had flaky moments. That blunder by allowed Arsenal back into a game that Barcelona were still playing mostly in Arsenal's half.

Still, defending deeper can be good. You can only counter-attack if your opponents are in your half of the field. You can attack too much in a game. If you attack less, you often score more.

Frankly, Fabregas, Eboue and Walcott had been crap.

All three played crap. Only a blinkered, badge-kissing nincompoop would say any of those three played well last night.

Arsenal had nothing on the right flank but now, suddenly, that was where the winning goal came from after a fabulous move.

The cool Koscielny picked up the ball in his penalty area, passed to Bendtner, who passed infield to Wilshere, then quickly forward to Fabregas, who instantly released Nasri with a superb ball down the right flank.

Nasri could have tried the obvious with a low cross to the far post but chose instead to play a lovely pass which allowed Arshavin to curl his sidefoot shot behind Abidal and into the net from 15 yards.

That quality goal gave Arsenal their first victory against Barcelona and it set the seal on the pulsating, rocking, thrilling night that the Emirates has needed since 2006.

Sporting Gijon was a factor last night because game was much harder than the Wolves game was for Arsenal .

After two and half years of staggering success, and intensifying pressure, Barcelona are showing signs of burn-out, so Pep has to husband his resources very carefully.

Coming back off an international break, which is mostly where Barcelona d rop their points, he conceded an early goal at Gijon in a game that was very passionate, intense and physical, since Gijon are fighting for their lives just above the drop-zone.

I was really enjoying the game but as the second half went on I was thinking : This is taking a lot out of Barcelona !

Indeed, it was a helluva battle that was taking a lot out of both sides.

Just as the commentators began to say that David Villa was about to be taken off, he glided onto a wonder-pass from Messi and chipped the keeper from the edge of the box and it finished 1-1.

Success brings a heavy schedule.

The more games you win, the more the pressure is on you. To handle that you need character and guts. Wilshere and Szczesny have given the team a lot more personality and authority than it had last year.

Big characters, big difference.

As Rufus Thomas said, age ain’t nothin’ but a number.
