Managing Your Target Audiences with Motivation

Employers who feel that their contributions are being recognised and respected do accomplish amazing things. Making employees feel appreciated, focusing attention on their good ideas, inviting them to attend trade shows that used to be limited just to the top brass, saying, “Thank you. We know you’re a good employee, we value you and your work” That’s the beginning of effective motivation.

-- The Leader in You, Dale Carnegie

Apart from reading The Purpose Driven Life, I am also reading The Leader in You and The Quick & Easy Way to Effective Speaking. The later ones were written by Dale Carnegie, whom I can learn many communication skills from. It is especially important for me to learn better public speaking skills and audience motivation skills, as I am a trainee hoping to be an excellent tutorial teacher in a large tutorial school corporation, for my career survival. In my application form, I even expressed my wish to be a tutorial teacher with senior ranking within two years’ time! That was really a rush idea from my subconscious mind…

The Leader in You told me a story about a ten-year-old boy called Andrew Carnegie. One day, Andrew’s male rabbit and female rabbit gave birth to a nest of baby rabbits! He did not panic but got a brilliant idea in managing manpower from his neighborhood—if other kids can take care of his rabbits everyday, he would name the rabbits in their honour! The goal was achieved very successfully. Motivating people to do what you want is, in fact, not as hard as you think with excellent communication skills and ideas people buy.

As mentioned in previous passages, my new supervisor appraised me for performing quite well during my second day of work. My heart was really in seventh heaven! Her words were really powerful to raise my interests in doing even better preparation for my lessons! This “appraising for recognition theory” can also apply more to my students (oh, those pupils are my students now…). Hope it can c reate them a superb learning environment with substantial happiness, accelerate their steady progress with interests raised for doing even better preparation for their subjects… And their parents will continue to pay, the company will continue to pay…

(Oh, no! Writing a piece of English passage should not be so hard for me, right? But…I think I should write more then. My laziness stepped me backward…)

備註: 前天意粉於黑板上寫字,給小朋友問,「字寫得這麼大隻幹嗎?」其實意粉真的很不喜歡看小字,眼睛受不了的……除非是看書啊!看書可以跟書很親密地對望著,嘻嘻。
