下周墨爾本盃嘉年華，主題固然是費明頓馬場舉行的墨爾本盃，但整個嘉年華卻是由維多利亞省旅遊局主導，而去年的維省旅遊大獎以及澳洲旅遊金獎，都是由墨爾本盃嘉年華取得。
彼邦政府跨部門組織，一起為這個重點項目而努力。由墨爾本盃周遊列國開始，到一系列的賽事，就算你不懂賽馬也無妨，因為活動有馬的元素之餘，亦是一場大型社交。
以本周為例，明日是在墨爾本皇冠渡假村的卡賓會打吡前夕午餐，而周六打吡日除費明頓馬場熱鬧外，市區不少地方都有大屏幕作現場直播，輔以音樂及搞氣氛的節目。周日更將宗教融入賽事，早上舉行墨爾本盃前彌撒，祈求人馬平安，接着多個馬房開派對及BBQ，與馬主及員工同樂。下周一則是在墨爾本市大街巡遊，先安排前馬王列陣，然後廿四匹參戰馬的馬主及練馬師坐開蓬跑車遊街。
周二跑墨爾本盃，全國停頓，跑完之後由得勝馬主在大酒店設宴慶功。下周四則是女士日，費明頓馬場跑橡樹之餘，又有選美。
這就是嘉年華會，一個雅俗共賞的盛會。
