之前談過香港近年血統潮流，事實上近年香港馬主及練馬師關注血統的程度，是不及九十年代的。
當然不是說練馬師及個別馬主不懂血統，但實際上不少練馬師為求馬兒早日適應香港及減低雄馬因脾氣暴躁而難以訓練的機會，都建議馬主在外國或來港後早早閹割。
固然在博彩上，懂得血統可以作為馬匹性能的根據，不少頂尖兒的練馬師都因懂得血統上馬匹的性能或訓練方法而建奇功兼換來好賠率，你懂的話往往就可趕上這班列車，又或者趨吉避凶。
澳洲某大育馬機構主席日前與我午膳，席間也不斷提及近年有不少全無商業價值血統的馬，憑試閘或贏馬而售港。但他也認為長此下去，香港馬主朋友可能只得到一些三、四、五班棲遲的馬。在外國如果肯在試閘後割愛，除非是等錢駛，否則好馬不會立亂賣。單以澳洲為例，大城市周末普通頭馬獎金已與香港第四班看齊，有力挑戰級制大賽更唔講得笑呢！
