看過牠在香港一哩錦標天馬行空的走勢後，已獲國際評分員給予一二七的評分，位列世界第三，而牠在董事盃的表現，絕對不遜香港一哩錦標，況且董事盃已升格為國際一級賽，受重視程度當比過往為高。
當然跑馬是相對而非絕對，你高分時，其他馬可更高分。但「一路通」這匹世界馬王已正式退役，而並列季軍的已是葉森打吡、愛爾蘭打吡及法國打吡盟主，部分已退役之餘，剩下來的能否在四歲再進一步，還是未知數。
而至於年長馬方面，美國還未出現另一匹「驅魔客」；日本除演出欠準的「神威啟示」外，大家看到日軍在香港國際賽興兵九路也無法贏馬，也知道他們是青黃不接；而英、愛、法的兩歲剛轉三歲分子，我亦未見到另一匹「黎明路向」。
曾說過上季四歲馬(今季五歲馬)是豐收年的醇酒，「步步友」正是箇中極品！
