杜拜世界盃二十周年，感覺上是失色了。
過往杜拜二字代表奢華及視錢財如無物，甚麼也是黃金石油打造。我有做建築及劃則的親戚告訴我，杜拜是一生必要去工作一次的，因為只有她才能圓則師或建築師的天馬行空設計夢，而且預算只會有多無少。
但金融海嘯後，杜拜也爆煲，最高之塔若非親戚卡利法(阿布扎比領袖)幫拖，可能已爛尾；而世界島，更大的棕櫚島(不是現在的一個)以及其他設施，拖延、停工、比比皆是。連目前的美丹馬場，與他們起初公佈的宏圖美丹城，只是十分一面積左右，旁邊仍是荒涼的沙漠。
缺了精采的大型煙花，缺了表演，巨星如郭富城也是浪琴表去邀請。晚上九時就草草跑完世界盃，比過往提早了個多小時散場(去年是當地十時零五分，今年是九時)。
其實他們轉向節約絕對是好事︰賽馬是質，而不是浮誇。杜拜過往予人的印象是硬件漂亮，軟件就......。不過現時若從新踏實上路，仍是阿拉伯國家的一顆明珠！
